Godaddy Always Takes 2 Clicks
Every time I want to do something on the godaddy website I get an error the first time I try and it works the second time.
This has been happening for me for at least a year - am I alone here? How must that impact their conversion rate if it happens for even a small percentage (say 5%) of their users?

I left godaddy in the dust. I mostly disliked their revolutionary 80 click checkout process. It’s just so convenient to be bombarded with crap every time you try to buy a domain.
The other thing is how much they call you. If you have a lot of domains expiring all the time you hear from them constantly. Sheesh. it was cute at first, now it’s just old. And what do they do for people who have embarrassing domain names? “hey this is Jane from godaddy, just calling to see if you wanted to renew donkeyporn.com?”
If you want my opinion, start buying all your domains at namecheap.com. It’s simple, and they give you free private whois with every domain. They also have a coupon code every single month to get a buck or two off. I think this month’s is WINTERFEVER.
Word.

I got a phone call today from godaddy - weird.
It really turned me off - it was a high-pressure, “give-me-your-credit-card-number-right-now” sales call. I told him to email me. He seriously ended his email with “Please email me when you’re ready to save some money.”
I used to tell people to use them because they are easy and you can get support, but I won’t refer people there anymore - they are obviously desperate with these crappy sales tactics.

The buggy interface was one of the reasons I went to Enom.com. A call like you I never had… Perhaps calling to Europe isn’t affordable

In a way, i think godaddy is kind of a microcosm of what the world would be like if libertarians took the reigns, which i admit, is what i usually preach. they try pretty much every trick in the book during checkout to get you to spend more money. it makes me think of how the world would be if everything was privatized and there was an advertisement on every inch of the world.
i’m still sticking to my guns though… my right to bear arms guns, that is.

I have the same problem on the Alberton’s website. Every time I click to look at the weekly ad, I have to click twice for it to work. I think it’s a conspiracy…

Indeed, I’d say about 80% percent of the time when I make the final click to purchase a new domain name, it bombs out… so I hurry up and hit send/receive in outlook to see if the purchase actually went through… Very very frustrating…
And yes, the rediculous amount of ads and pages that a person must go through in order to make a purchase is becoming increasingly annoying. Not only that but never getting a deal or a coupon, no matter how many purchases you’ve made is feeling more and more like robbery.
What is this whole thing about them wanting extra money to make your information private, how greedy is that?
Anyway, what it all boils down to though is that, like so many other supreme entities, they have the name, they’re making the money, so they can do pretty much whatever they want and for the most part, we’ll deal with it… Kind of like another internet icon I was thinking of, eBay… hehe

I couldn’t agree more - these “small” guys are innovative and accommodating, and then they want to get big and sell their souls for the investors, and create a new opportunity for a young company… the circle of life.
