I got a Mac

I’m more surprised than anybody to read these words on my own site - I always swore I wouldn’t do it.

I have to say, though, that in the few days since I made the purchase (just an imac - I wasn’t ready to change my whole life with a macbook pro) I have been very happy with the computer. Yeah, I wish that Apple would keep the politics out of their business, but that’s a different issue.

FrontRow is what I always wished my xp media center would be - clean, intuitive and hasn’t given me any problems… yet.

That being said, I have always loved my brand new computers and I know I’m still in the honeymoon phase. The real test will be how I feel about it in a few months. I’ll keep you updated.

  3. I guess I should - I’ve been fighting it, but I guess it’s time :)

  4. Welcome to the other side. I predict that you (and Jen) will quickly become fanatical and shrill mac bigots. And who could blame you? Nice stuff.

  5. I’m not too surprised… you have acknowledged in the past that the mac is a better computer for home (media stuff anyway). That’s why I want to get one, to edit video of my kids and stuff. I think I’d be more into doing fun stuff on my computer at home if I had one. With a PC, its all business.

  6. Shrill mac bigots? We’ll see… I have my doubts :)

Cameron - did I really acknowledge that it was better? In my mind I have always been pretty pro-windows anti-mac, but it sounds like my subconscious already defied me…

  7. Yes. A long, long time ago, I said something to the effect that pc’s are a better work computer but mac’s are a better home computer and you agreed.

If imac’s were like $800, it would likely be my next computer purchase. If I bought one right now, my computer would be worth more than my car. Maybe that’s why I can’t afford a mac, because I need the money for repairs for my car. :)

  8. Yeah, you’re right - I vaguely remember that. There was a period where I really started hating them after you left, I think. The guy in the commercials makes me want to come through the tv set and kick his homeless butt.

Oh, the new commercials are even worse - they found the one guy nerdier than their pc guy and he talks about how visual voicemail is the greatest invention of all time. Ugh.

  9. Good for you? Are you going to upgrade to Leopard? I think that they are offering some kind of discount for recently purchased Macs. I’m pretty excited about it.

  10. Yeah, I’m going to upgrade to leopard - it does look pretty sweet. I think the upgrade is $10. So far it really has been an awesome computer. I’m not totally indoctrinated yet, though - I was looking at a sony laptop last night that was pretty sweet :)

  11. I still think you should get a vaio laptop…the small ones are the perfect size for travelling. The imac is cool, but I don’t really like the keyboard or mouse. I guess I’ll get used to it with time, tho. It’s a pretty cool computer, and my favorite feature is that the whole computer is in the monitor! There’s so much less cords and stuff…looks so much cleaner.
