SpeakEasy: Update

Update: I just called and spoke to my account rep at SpeakEasy - he told me that I was supposed to receive a bill 3 business days after having service installed, so it was a mistake. He took care of it right away. I was really impressed - I haven’t had a problem resolved this quickly in a long-time.

My wife and I have been shopping around for a new ISP recently. I contacted SpeakEasy, a company specializing in residential and business DSL, to get a quote on DSL service.

In order to receive a quote I had to give SpeakEasy quite a bit of information including my billing address to see what types of DSL were available. I decided not to go with them because of their relative high price and low speeds available. This morning I received a bill from them for $50 - needless to say I am appalled.

I will contact them and keep you updated on the resolution, but in the meantime I would suggest that anybody in the market for a new ISP definitely stay away from SpeakEasy! You should not have to pay for a quote.

  1. I’m guessing it’s a mistake. Most Speakeasy customers that I know love them.
